Acromegalia y obstrucción de la vía aérea

ANTECEDENTES: La acromegalia es un trastorno poco frecuente, principalmente relacionado con los adenomas hipofisarios productores de hormona de crecimiento. Las manifestaciones clínicas son variables, por lo que la afectación de la vía aérea tiende a ser infrecuente, lo que puede retrasar el diagnóstico y el manejo oportuno.
CASO CLÍNICO: Paciente femenina de 52 años con diagnóstico de acromegalia, con síntomas laríngeos y hallazgos endoscópicos de edema supraglótico con obstrucción aérea que requirió manejo quirúrgico con supraglotoplastia láser azul, con evolución clínica favorable.
CONCLUSIONES: Las manifestaciones clínicas y aéreas en pacientes con sospecha o diagnóstico de acromegalia deben detectarse de manera temprana para garantizar un tratamiento oportuno y adecuado.
